Army entrance exams set in Visayas

      FORT BONIFACIO, METRO MANILA – In line with the intent of the Commanding General, Philippine Army, Lt. Gen. Romeo P. Tolentino to widen the recruitment pool for new officers and soldiers, the Army Recruitment Center based in the Visayas will conduct a series of Philippine Army Aptitude Test Battery (PAATB) next week.

      The PAATB is the first set of examinations being administered to all applicants either for Officer Candidates or for Candidate Soldiers. While PAATB is regularly conducted at the Army Personnel Management Center in Fort Bonifacio on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, its conduct in the field is only done on limited basis. In coordination with major Army units in Visayas, PAATB will be administered in Camp Lapu-Lapu, Cebu City on February 15 and 16, Ormoc City on February 19, Tacloban City on February 20, and in Camp Lukban, Catbalogan, Samar on February 21 and 22.

      An applicant for Candidate Soldier must be a citizen of the Republic of the Philippines whose age is 18 to 22 upon the start of training; unmarried without dependent, completed of at least 72 units in college from any government-recognized educational institution or in case of a high school graduate must possess a technical or special skills needed by the AFP; has a height of at least one meter and 63 centimeters or 64 inches; of good moral character and must have a PAATB result of 80 equivalent score or higher.

      On the other hand, an applicant for Officer Candidate must get a PAATB result of 100 equivalent score or higher. He must have a baccalaureate degree with competitive scholastic records and must be between 21 and 26 years old. Aside from satisfying the basic qualifications, applicants are also reminded that there shall be no granting of waivers of any kind.
